Create a Docker account

You can create a Docker account with email, Google, or GitHub. Creating an account gives you a Docker ID, which is your username for Docker Hub, Docker Desktop, Docker Scout, and Docker forums.

Create and verify your account

Every sign-up path requires verification before you can sign in. Docker blocks sign-in until you've verified your account.

Email

Create an account with an email address and password, then verify with a six-digit code Docker emails you.

  1. Go to the Docker sign-up page.
  2. Select Work or Personal, then enter a unique, valid email address.
  3. Enter a username to use as your Docker ID. Your Docker ID is permanent. Your username:
    • Must be between 4 and 30 characters long
    • Can only contain letters and numbers. Docker stores it in lowercase.
    • Must not be an email address
  4. Choose a password between 9 and 128 characters long, then select Sign up.
  5. Enter the six-digit code from the Docker verification email. This completes the registration process.

Google or GitHub

Create an account with Google or GitHub. Docker uses the email on that provider account, and you do not set a Docker password during sign-up. Verify that email with the provider before you continue.

  1. Go to the Docker sign-up page.
  2. Select Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub.
  3. Select the social account you want to link to your Docker account.
  4. Authorize Docker to access your social account information. Docker redirects you to the sign-up page.
  5. Enter a username to use as your Docker ID. Your Docker ID is permanent. Your username:
    • Must be between 4 and 30 characters long
    • Can only contain letters and numbers. Docker stores it in lowercase.
    • Must not be an email address
  6. Select Sign up.
